Tamara de Lempicka, Jeune fille en vert (Jeune fille aux gants) (Young Woman in Green, Young Woman with Gloves) (detail), 1930–1931
we’ve had to admit to ourselves that, yes, the days are well and truly getting shorter and darker, along with our mood about it. but, we shall embrace what’s good about this inevitability: the woolen jumpers are out, our coziest throw is nearby (more on that below) and it’s autumn. these 31 days have more art, food and music than any month has a right to offer.
let’s make the most of this tenth month, before holiday madness ensues, talk turns to turkeys and black friday raises our collective blood pressure.

Ha ko’s washi paper incense
smell
while the world is ablaze in candles scented with spiced gourds and apples, we are taking a subtler, yet more literal approach to our olfactory pleasure. ha ko’s washi paper autumn leaf-shaped incense channels fennel and maple for an autumnal japanese vibe.
touch
the frank lloyd wright foundation + designtex: fellowship. a linear midcentury wallpaper collection that, frankly (get it?), begs for some terrazzo.
the iconic blondie bag by gucci. it’s back, thanks to new creative director sabato de sarno.
throws. you can never have enough. design wise, they can make a room. comfort wise, they can make an evening. we can’t wait to wrap ourselves in textural treats like this and this and this.
Veerays, new york
taste
veerays brings the speakeasy vibe of the roaring 20s into the 2020s, with a deliciously art deco design, juxtaposed with traditional indian fare. it could only be new york.
for a flavour to savour, we’ve had a constant craving for the autumnal bounty that is root vegetables. with italian farro? say no more, just grab a fork and that cozy wrap.
we are gasping to get our hands on this one, if not for the bottle alone. help us out, johnnie.
